Popup for more info

I think there could be a lot of use in having some sort of pop up window block. It would dim the current page you are on and display this block on top of the page.
This could be used for really important announcements, butt I think they could be more useful if they are able to be triggered by a button.
Example: Learn More button - instead of opening a new window. It opens a pop up on top of the page you are on.
This could really help with not having a page for everything, and keeping the flow of the website simpler.

I support this. One use case would be the "Overlay Image Column" where we had the ability to display the default - or - to configure the text to display only on an "onHover" event. One reason for this is to help avoid visual clutter. It would be important on the popup that, in addition to normal text, we could also support buttons.

Len Smith: We don't current have a feature that supports the on hover. We do support buttons though.

A real use case we would use is when you clicked on a contact name (button, link, whatever) it would open the contact form in the popup so you don't have to leave a page to ask a question. I.E. on an event, we like to have a contact the staff for questions option, but you either have to embed the form (which gets real messy and confusing quickly) or you take people to a new page, away from where they want to be.

James Mills: I have an idea for this. I think perhaps we use the standard page builder so that you still have full design control but then the link lets you select the page you designed but the option is to open as a popup. I think this could be very slick.

Paul Cox I like how you're thinking! Back when we used Joomla, we had a plugin that let you open a page in a modal popup. This could work the same way.

Jesse Loewen similar in design to how we have PopUps in the Announcement section this would be just triggered from a button click. Does that sound right?
Jesse Loewen
Paul Cox I totally didn't realize that was an option there!
Yes that would basically be it then. Triggering a pop up with a button.
Paul Cox
Jesse Loewen: it's a recent addition but it happens when the page loads not on click. I think that could be a good interface though to build them then triggering them from a button click. This could be really cool. I'll talk to the team.
