A 404 Not Found error page appears when attempting to preview a webpage, event, or form that is in draft status. This was formally reported to ChurchCo via email on 12/02/2025.
ChurchCo explained that, in version 2.0, the display of a 404 Not Found webpage during draft page preview is by design. To preview the page, users should change the status to "publish" and save their changes.
A 404 page is used to let visitors know that the URL they are trying to access is invalid. However, users who are simply previewing their pages before publishing should not encounter this message. Publishing incomplete pages can result in them being indexed by search engines and made accessible to the public. ChurchCo noted that pages can be set to “no index”.
Setting unfinished page's SEO settings to "no index" opens the possibility of the page never being indexed. Completing a page can take several days, depending on its complexity and the amount of content needed. After finishing, users must remember to revert the SEO setting back to "index”. Preview in draft status is supported in ChurchCo 1.0 and is functionality that is missing from ChurchCo 2.0.
